There were a few reactions to the resurrection of Jesus; an earthquake, the angel sitting on the stone to symbolize that death had been conquered and the guards becoming like dead men and dying to their unbelief. 1. What needs to be quaked in you - mediocrity? 2. What needs to be conquered in you - sometimes we bear bitterness, anger, hatred etc....? 3. What needs to die in you - addiction, unforgiveness, etc...? #matthew28:1-11 #pastordavid
Tomorrow is 5th Sunday Gospel Hour and potluck lunch. Services are at 11am and 5pm. Please join us in singing and then mingle with good people!
We are called to be salt and light to this world. 1. Salt brings flavor. We are to bring “flavor” to the world. We should be the kind of people that others desire being around. 2. Salt makes others thirsty. The world should begin to thirst for the Savior within us. 3. We are the light of this world. A light that points directly to our God. Jesus is daring us to be salt and light. #pastordavid #matthew5:13-16
Join us at Driftwood UMC (15090 Ranch to Market Rd. 150) for an Ash Wednesday Worship Service. Nursery available. Ash Wednesday is always 46 days before Easter Sunday and marks the beginning of the Lenten season. An Ash Wednesday Service is a penitent service that uses ash to mark the sign of the cross on the believer’s forehead, symbolizing our sinful nature and need for salvation. The tradition of applying ashes to a Christian’s forehead in the sign of a cross to commemorate the beginning of Lent dates back to at least the 10th century, though both the Old and New Testaments contain references to ashes and sackcloth representing sin, sorrow and forms of repentance. The church usually uses the ashes of Palm Sunday branches from the previous year’s Palm Sunday service.

So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. 1 John 4:16
Dear Driftwood Family, It is with joy and sadness that I share with you my new appointment. Last week I was called by our District Superintendent with the news that Bishop Schnasse is appointing me to a new congregation beginning July 1. This evening I was introduced to Chapel Hill UMC in San Antonio. Now that I have been officially introduced there I can share the announcement with you. I hope to have the opportunity over the next two months to talk with each of you and thank you for the role you played in making this a wonderful experience. I also want to take this time to thank all of you for your warm welcome, for opening up and sharing your lives with me, for affirming my gifts and graces and offering your gifts and graces to the ministry that we created together. Thank you for walking my mother’s cancer journey with me and for reaching out to my children with joy and grace. The past two years hold many special memories and many wonderful friendships. We do not know who will be appointed to Driftwood, however I have absolute faith that the Bishop and the Cabinet are prayerfully and faithfully considering who will best fit the ministry and Body of Christ of Driftwood UMC. Please join me in praying for your new pastor – for their transition from someplace familiar, for their welcome into a new church home, and for the new relationships that will be created. I know many people in our church family are not life-long Methodists and the itineracy process may not be familiar. Let me know if you have any questions about the why, how, or benefits of itineracy – I will do my best to explain. Believe it or not, I have a deep appreciation of this part of our denomination…even as I grieve every move I make away from a church that has become family. With love and a remembrance of the Methodist connection, Pastor Michele
